Shaped and tested by John Amundson on Oahu's North Shore, the design of the 2008 North Rocketfish was inspired by the best modern surfboards. The 2008 range consists of three surf-specific models, intended for high-performance top-to-bottom surfing and in-the-pocket snaps and gouges. A pulled-in tail outline and extra tail rocker drives you through the bottom turn and snaps off the top, allowing tight turns that will open up new terrain on any wave.

These boards work great for powered-up wave riding, but the Rocketfish is especially designed for allowing you to surf waves with little influence from the kite. These surfboards are great for riding strapped or strapless, hooked or unhooked. All three sizes offer the same performance characteristics, with an emphasis on matching the size of the board to the size of a rider. A 6'0" man might want to ride the 6'0" Rocketfish, while a 5'0" woman might be more comfortable on the 5'6" board.

The 5'6" Rocketfish was designed for lighter riders, offering controlled bounce-free bottom turns and snappy cutbacks. The 5'9" board is intended for medium weight riders in small to big surf. The great drive and control through the bottom turn allows a great deal of vertical movement. The 6'0" was designed for heavier riders, offering the same snappy response and high performance as the other models. Its additional volume and planing surface provides early planing and great upwind performance, making it a great light wind tool for medium weight riders.
