2010 Demo Plans
Big Winds will once again put together the largest demo fleet in the Columbia River Gorge, and will be stocked with the hottest windsurfing gear for 2010. Located in Hood River, Oregon, our shop is minutes away from some of the best bump and jump sailing in the world. Our rental season runs from May to October, during which our rental department will be happy to make your sailing dreams come true!
Our full package includes a windsurf board, three sails and a mast, along with all the other hardware and accessories necessary to get out on the water. For 2010, we're also offering reduced-diameter skinny masts for sail sizes 4.7 and below. We'll even hook you up with rack pads and rack straps for your car, so you're free to cruise up and down the Gorge seeking out your favorite conditions.
What's more, you're free to exchange your gear as often as you like (depending on availability, of course). No matter if you want to try a larger sail or a smaller board, the Big Winds rental department has you covered.
You'll only be charged for
the days you use your gear.
If you've got plans in the middle of your vacation that precludes sailing, bring the gear back in and we won't charge you for that day. It doesn't matter if you're going to a wedding or have decided to go water skiing on those hundred degree windless days. But, you have to bring your gear back to the shop in order to avoid being charged.
Let us make your trip to the Gorge a great one. For more information on rentals give us a call at 888-509-4210 or email us at .
Don't Miss Our Beach Center!
For summer 2010, we will have the same performance windsurfing gear that we offer at our shop available for demo at our Beach Center, right next to the Event Site.
Our Beach Center is open every day from 11AM to 6PM.
Our Beach Center is open now but subject to the varying late summer weather. Be sure to call us to verify that we're open.
Try It Before You Buy It!
If you choose to buy a new board after demoing one from us, we'll apply two days worth of your rental fee towards your purchase!
2009 Demo Gear Now On Sale
We're still selling the 2009 gear from our lessons, rental and demo programs. This is some of the best gear out there, used for one short season in fresh water. Check out the list and give us a call at 888-509-4210.

"I wanted to drop a note of thanks for the excellent job your team did for me on my Gorge trip last week. The rental gear was top notch, the service was great and everyone was very helpful. In my 15+ years of traveling to the Gorge, I have never had a better trip. Your facility allows me to no longer drag all my gear through the airport (hassle) and still have great equipment to sail. I’m already planning next year’s trip.
"Thanks for making my trip a pleasure."

What type of board should I rent?
We carry boards in our rental fleet that generally fit into one of the following categories: Bump and Jump, Wave, Freestyle Wave, and Slalom Freeride. Many of the modern shapes are able to crossover in two or more of these categories creating boards that handle most conditions very well. Whatever type of sailing you are into, we have a board that will suite your style and give you a fun ride here in the Gorge.
JP Freestyle Wave: Category: Freestyle Wave/ Bump and Jump

Starboard Kode: (86,94,90) Category: Wave/ Freestyle Wave
These Kodes offer the same slashy ride as the smaller sizes but offer a little more stability when ripping across the flat water. Whether it’s inland bump and jump, freestyle, or coastal sailing, the mid-range Kodes are super versatile.
Starboard Futura: Category: Slalom Freeride
Speed junkies everywhere will love the Futura for its comfort and efficiency of reaching blistering speeds. Along with its speed it offers quick planing, acceleration, and confidence-inspiring jibing performance.
